Little tickling dreams

Chilhood edition, my love! |
El hombre que lo tenía todo todo todo (The Man that had it all, all, all) by Miguel Ángel Asturias.
This is a treat! It was the first book I stumbled on (on free will, because… kids) as a child and remained ingrained in my head, back then I was very confused, I did not understand it as a whole, like a fly on a web: there was something bigger than I could not hold, but it was the richest imagery I ever saw at the time: surreal and dreamlike, a beauty. Also, it was an illustrated copy, very nice.
I will never forget that the protagonist jumps around in the morning in a pair of slippers with tons of fleas underneath.

Useless fact. I borrowed my childhood copy to a friend (I know, I know, love makes you do stupid things) and for many years I was sad about it (love and book went away) and couldn’t find any copy at all, until one day in a flea market, on the floor… behold! a copy of the same edition with the nice illustrations, very nicely kept and super cheap. And the friendship came around too. Life is a teaser.
