Sing it like Arcade Fire...

The Neon Bible (La Biblia de neón) by John Kennedy Toole.
Right… Once upon a time, I found my introverted self very much wasted in someone´s house at late hours. You see, I was an adoptee of my extroverted friend who took me to endless nights. Sometimes I keep to myself, even in the middle of parties, it is nice, but this time I ended talking to the mysterious homeowner for the remaining of the night and morning, about music and books in an intoxicated rant that ended with him giving me a book as a present with the brightest eyes ever. Never saw him again, hell… I don’t even remember his name, but his gesture at giving me this book sure warms my heart till this day. I read it with eagerness and I was so emotionally involved in this little story that may appear simple, but it is thick with emotion, calm and misery, in a home made of despair. There is a lucidity through the book that glues it together and makes it beautiful, albeit sad.
I do not know if I had read it with another state of mind, perhaps I would have seen the imperfections or flaws that it is mentioned to have, but also maybe, I wouldn’t mind them at all.
John Kennedy Toole had a powerful voice and a sharp mind. It is a shame that he died before knowing his works went so far as they did, like a drunken night in México city between two strangers 40 years after.
