An Awkward Age (Una edad difícil) by Anna Starobinets.

This definitely is something to remember. One of the authors that had impressed me recently, just how good Starobinets is and why are her books so hard to find! This compilation is just incredible.

There are many ways her writing (the adult ones, she writes children books too… how awesome, huh?) is characterized: dark, horror, black humor, fantasy or twisted and I guess it is some of that in an extent, but it is so much more, if you think horror for example, that’s just not it and not quite right. Maybe you can tell it better by the feeling in your gut, like someone pocking your insides, uncomfortable and disturbing in a broader sense. She has the ability to mix the bare with the profoundly complex, the bleak reality with a dreamlike quality.

Of course, the main story is the most notorious. From the start it is devastating and it keeps delivering relentlessly through each page, it will haunt you for a long time.

I hope soon will be easier to get more books by this brilliant author, spread the word.
