Well… that didn’t work out quite well for me. There’s not much I can say about Metro 2034, after liking very much Metro 2033 it was a big surprise the terrible disappointment.

Ok, there’s no Artyom, and I thought that was good, but the half known and half new ensemble was much more painful than Artyom was. That marvelous atmosphere is gone too and I think that made the mayor difference. To be honest I don’t remember much besides struggling a lot and cringing all the time, so I thought, why bother? Especially after the third book.

The Metro series was like the stages of a party. The first book is full of the promise of what’s to come, all the ladies are gorgeous, drinks are tasty and the music is great. There are some shady characters around, but all is fun and games until the second book. Now you are stirring to wake up in a strange room, it is almost morning and there is a terrible pain in your head, your mouth dry. By book three its daylight and you are watching the stained sofa, neck stiff, cloths sticky. The nice people you met before are gone, your wallet too and damn, it seems a truck rolled over you, where were you again? Ok, ok, some kind of parties, don’t do that at home boys and girls.

And that’s the best I can say. Book three was a cringe fest all around, but hey! Artyom is back! More annoying and cringeworthy than ever and I regret thinking that the ensemble of the second book was more painful. I struggled a lot to get to the end, definitely should had abandoned it, but you know… quirky idea of mine to finish all books. And after the end I was so moody and cranky that it took a while to get on track for a new one.

So, that’s my experience, maybe there are other people who enjoyed all three, taste is a personal thing.
